GEAUX TIGERS, GEAUX SAINTS!!!!

No new cookies today, just bringing back some from the past in order to give a 'shout out' to the home teams.  The LSU Tigers are playing in the Cotton Bowl tonight, taking on Texas A&M.   GEAUX (GO, for those not familiar with the Cajun interpretation of the verb go) TIGERS!!!

Secondly, our beloved home team, the New Orleans Saints, are traveling up to Seattle to take on the Seahawks in an NFC Wildcard game tomorrow afternoon.  Hey, Reggie, if 'ya listnin'.....'Ya need to step it up BIG TIME tomorrow, dude!  What with the 2 leading rushers out for the remainder of the playoffs, Pierre Thomas and Chris Ivory, it's gonna be on your shoulders!  Show us some of those moves 'ya had at USC!!  Bring it on!!"

In reference to the recent unexplained findings of massive numbers of dead birds, I saw this explanation posted on facebook.  No doubt, it came from a Who Dat fan!!

Figured out the dying bird thing... God is a Saints fan and he is telling us that birds are going down... Seahawks, Falcons, Eagles, Ravens... in that order... mark it... WHO DAT!!!!!!!!

I guess that says it all!
 GEAUX SAINTS!!

Bridal Shower Cookie Tray

Cookies for a bridal shower.....tray and close ups using a variety of techniques.

This was my first time trying a brush embroidery technique.  I was very pleased with the end result.

Just piping on this one.

I used a combination of stencilling, piping, and sanding sugar on these.

This one had a dusting of sanding sugar too.

After the basecoat dried on this one, I outlined and flooded the diamond shape in the middle, and added piping details.  It gives a bit more dimension to the cookie.
This one was simple, basecoat, piping, and sanding sugar, (well not really simple, multi-stepped is more like it).  The sparkle doesn't show up too well in this photo, but it was a lovely touch to the whole tray of cookies. They kind of look like pieces of fudge!

And lastly......

A Saints Football Cookie Bouquet
This one was a donation for a holiday auction that raises funds for scholarships for local high school students.

Saints Cookies

At long last, the latest edition of New Orleans Saints cookies has arrived!!! This is my version for the upcoming football season.  I was inspired to make the LA shaped cookie with "Believe Dat" by a sticker I saw while Googling one day after the Superbowl win.  Saved it, and thought I might use it one day...... that day has arrived.

It pays tribute to the long suffering fans of the "Who Dat Nation" who have endured untold misery for far too long.  It took one special coach, who learned very quickly the incredible bond between his team and the city of New Orleans and the surrounding gulf coast area, to bring in one special quarterback, who, like the city of New Orleans and the gulf coast region, had to find untold strength from deep within, to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds, to comeback from despair, destruction, and defeat, who together, understood the magnitude of the task the two of them had before them.  It didn't take long for Sean Peyton and Drew Brees to realize that they were not here for the sole purpose of resurrecting a woeful excuse of an NFL franchise.  No, they realized early on that they were being called to rebuild more than just a football team. The coach, his quarterback, and the whole New Orleans Saints team and organization, took the city, the region, its fans, and everyone affected by Hurricane Katrina upon their shoulders, and carried them along as they all rebuilt, together, to come back stronger, more determined, and more confident in their ability to overcome adversity.

This year's edition of Saints cookies is dedicated to the Who Dat Nation, who've had to endure for sooooo long a miserable football team, and a crippling blow from a storm named Katrina.  It finally happened .... SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS!!!!
To those who said it would never happen.....BELIEVE DAT!!!!!!!!

Saints Lombardi Cookies

Yeah, I'm still making Saints cookies! These are the championship version with the Lombardi trophy. As our voice of the Saints, broadcaster Jim Henderson, so eloquently put it: "....party with the Lombardi!!!!!" That's pretty much what people have been doing since the BIG WIN. I wanted to add a Darren Sharper football player to this collection. He has made a HUGE impact on the turnaround of the defense this season. Kudos to Sharper and the rest of the defense!
They may not rank in the top 10 in total defense, but who cares! They certainly get the job done! And Greg Williams, the defensive coordinator, are you kidding me! One man turned the whole thing around defensively in 1 season! Thank you Sean Payton for hiring this guy!

Saints Valentine Bouquet

A local florist asked me to make some cookie bouquets for her store so that she can offer alternatives to flowers for Valentines Day. Of course, I had to include a black and gold bouquet! The rest range from the traditional valentines to some bouquets for a man's taste.
