Super delicious birthday cookies

soalnya ada cerita menegangkan behind the cupcakes...... wuiiiiih serem amat......

Begini ceritanya, birthday cupcakes ini untuk acara tgl 21 November lalu dan sudah dipesan sebulan sebelumnya oleh mba Vika seorang orthodontist.
Pesanan ini benar-benar special karena untuk merayakan ulang tahun borongan untuk 3 orang, nah yg ulang tahun itu :

     1. mba Vika, tgl 1 November
     2. si imut Naya, tgl 5 November
     3. Papanya Naya, tgl 21 November
nggak kebayang kan ulang tahun bisa janjian begitu ?! 

Pas saatnya mau mengerjakan cupcake ini, eh Bee badannya panas, jadi aja ngerjainnya setengah hati karena Bee rewel terus....
Hubby sampe ikutan stress......

Lihat deh, Bee sampai sempet tidur di perutnya Hubby :
Kalau untuk si Imut Naya, suka Dora, Hello Kitty dan Barney
mending hasilnya mirip...., ini dia penampakannya....beda bangeeeet !!!
Beda banget kaaaaaan ??? 
betul-betul-betuuuuul..........!!!
Lhaaaa, trus yang katanya ceritanya menegangkan itu manaaaa ???
*hi...hi...hiii...., penonton mulai kecewa*


Begini...., 
setelah cupcake siap langsung diserahkan ke kurir yang memang sudah menunggu satu jam, hi...hi...hiii... maaf yah maz.... abis bilangnya mau di pick up jam 9 eh, jam 8 sudah nongol di rumah.
Terus terang kali ini kurirnya bukan yang biasa aku pakai, tapi berbekal rekomendasi temen-temen sesama bakul kue, katanya kurir ini berpengalaman banget ngantar cupcakes yg modelnya rada manja ini.
pokoknya yakin banget deh aku kalau cupcakenya pasti sampai dengan selamat.


Satu setengah jam kemudian, aku dapat BBM dari mba Vika..... 
*eng ing eng....dimulai deh film horornya*


"Mba, kuenya rusak semua !"

Haaaa...... RUSAK ?? 
langsung lemes saat itu juga. Panik !
Sejak pertama aku mulai terima pesanan cake/cupcakes, alhamdulillah belum pernah terima complain satupun juga....., tapi sekarang ?!
Langsung telpon kurirnya......., langsung BBM-an sama mba Vika......wah pokoknya heboh deh.....
seharian itu aku panik.... belum lagi ngurusin Bee yang rewel karena lagi demam dan merasa dicuekkin dari semalam (krn sibuk bikin cc), untung ada hubby yang selalu menguatkan aku, karena dia tau itu bukan kesalahan aku.


Cerita singkatnya, itu cupcakes pada melorot dan meleyot (istilahnya mba Vika), jadi rupanya si cupcakes ini dibawa dalam stereofoam box tanpa diberi blue ice/dry ice lagi..... o alaaaahhh...... maaaasss...katanya profesional & berpengalaman, harusnya kan tahu cara penanganan membawa cake/cupcake yg pake figurine dari fondant ??!! (seperti ceritaku waktu ngirim cooler champange)
Jelaslah itu figurine jadi kepanasan di dalam box.


Hu..hu....huuuu.....
sedihnya takterkirakan......
Berkali-kali aku minta maaf sama mba Vika, pokoknya udah kayak lebaran aja deh......, merasa bersalah juga karena aku terlalu percaya sama kurir yang katanya berpengalaman ini, jadi nggak double check lagi.


Tapi memang mba Vika ini sabaaaaar banget, walaupun cupcakesnya pada keluar tusukannya (aku pakai tusuk sate untuk memperkuat posisi figurinenya), dia tetep foto sama si cupcakes dengan senyum yang maniiiiiis banget, kayak gak ada masalah gituuu......
Ma'af gambarnya kurang jelas, ini kiriman dari mba Vika, karena memang aku minta ijin untuk attach gambarnya (makasieh yaaaah mba...).
Mba Vika kirim BBM begini :

Sebenernya mba Vika tidak minta pengganti untuk cupcakes yg rusak tersebut, tapi sebagai permintaan maaf atas kelalaianku, aku berniat membuatkan cake lagi buat mba Vika...... ceritanya belum tamat nih.....tunggu tanggal mainnya di bioskop terdekat anda....eh, maksudnya masih bersambung di posting selanjutnya gituuuu....hi...hi...hiii.....

Remember that awesome mixing bowl set I bought Adam for his birthday?



It becomes a lot less awesome if you're out of parchment paper, flour, and all of the staples that you normally have at your disposal while making cookies.



Adam and I made the Toy Story 3 cookies at the beach condo where my family's spending vacation. I spent Sunday night with them, then my dad drove me back to school the next morning. I forgot how much I love going to the beach with my crazy, chaotic, lovable family.



But I digress! The cookies turned out to be a semi-disaster. Since we didn't have flour, and the cookie dough stuck to everything (including my Sil-Pin. Sigh), I thought, "maybe we'll just bake some round cookies, and then right after we take the cookies out of the oven, then I'll use the cutters on them."



I seriously appreciate Adam putting up with me. He would eat the raw cookie dough, though, because it said not to on the package. Well, more for me.







After I cut out the cookies, and everyone ate all the scraps (and I mean ALL), I gave Adam the little tubes of icing so he could decorate.

Please ignore my awful beach hair in the background... Look! A cute kid holding a tube of icing!

And that's why I love this particular gift, because he had fun squirting icing all over the cookies (except for Slinky, but none of those cookies turned out) and then eating them.



I'm sure if I was in my own home kitchen surrounded by familiar pots and pans, the cookies would've been perfect. But as it was, the memories will still be perfect. ;o)

Ada yang pesen cupcakes lagi nih, temen sekolahnya Imay, katanya untuk Happy Anniversary ayah-bundanya.

"Mamiiii... ini karakternya :
1. Bapaknya orang hukum, hobby jalan-jalan, gendut, perut keliatan (pas pake kaos).
2. Ibunya kerja di bank, suka baca, rambut pendek.
3. Anaknya cewek, gendut, item, rambut pendek, suka nyanyi & softball.
4. Anak cewek, keriting, suka merah, melukis dan fotografi.
5. Cowok, suka softball, pake kaos no. 34 di punggung.
6. Ibu-ibu gendut, suka kuning, rambut pendek dan suka perhiasan. "

Tanya idenya sama Hubby, katanya si Bapak lagi cuci mobil, pegang selang air, jadi posisi perut yang kelihatan udelnya masih rada sopan.
Tapi dipikir-pikir kok ribet amat karena harus bikin mobilnya juga donk..... walaaah, muat gak di atas cupcakes yang diameternya cuma 6,5 cm ?

Setelah pesanan diterima....
"Lucuuu..., cuma mo protes, papahnya kan harusnya gendut dan kok udelnya gak kelihatan ?!"

Nah loh !! oooh iya, harusnya gendut yaaah, ma'af yah !
Kalau masalah perut itu, gak tega bikinnya..... kayaknya gak sopan gituuu.....

Tapi itu jadi catatan juga buat aku pokoknya harus sesuai dengan permintaan deh, seaneh apapun permintaannya, betul... betul... betuuuuul...... !!! (itu mah katanya si Upin !)
 

This is my Uncle Mike. And when I saw that picture, I thought, THAT needs to be a cookie!!!

Let me tell you a little about my Uncle Mike....

• He was just 16 when I was born,

• When I was about 4 or so, he took me on a ROAD TRIP! I think it was from Texas to my grandparents' house in Oklahoma. Apparently, during the trip, he waited patiently outside the ladies' room door for me...and waited...and waited. I didn't come out. It seems my mother had trained me very well to line the toilet seat with toilet paper, BUT it kept falling off! I'm not sure how this was all resolved, but I did eventually make it out of that bathroom.

• One of my Uncle's favorite expressions is "Hootie Hoot!" I've never heard another person actually utter these words. :)

• He and kiddo have a private joke that involves the "hi-ho" song from Snow White. (I'll spare you the details.)
• And I can't forget....he LOVES the RED SOX!!!

I've always loved my Uncle Mike. Not only because he forgave me when I was 6 and I sat on his glasses and broke them....when he was visiting us....out-of-town.

After my mom died, he called. I mean, he called to check in on us every so often. To ask how we were doing, to ask about Kiddo, to have a laugh. My dad & sister & I had each other, but to hear my mom's brother's voice on the phone....it was a great comfort. It was another connection to her and I will never forget that.

I think some sort of border looks pretty on these edible image cookies....piping, a scalloped edge, sprinkles. This one was piped with a #16 star tip.

YES....these are EDIBLE images! Do not try this with your home printer. :) (You know, I had to say that, just in case.) My icing printer arrived a few weeks ago and I'm just getting to know it. The “paper” is a thin frosting sheet and the “ink” comes from food coloring jets.

I'll give a full tutorial on applying edible images in a future post, I promise! Until then, the quick version....format your picture, print on frosting sheets, cut and apply.
