Crapload of people waiting for a cupcake

At Magnolia Bakery, the cupcake wrappers are just as buttery and creamy and delicious as the cupcakes. Just ask Lexington, a 5½-year-old husky-Labrador mix, who gained 20 pounds eating the discarded wrappers.

Lexington, like many of his Greenwich Village neighbors, has a bit of a sweet tooth.
Ms. Petit (Lexington's owner), who lives two blocks from the Magnolia Bakery, discovered this on their walks around the neighborhood. Lexington would lunge at the discarded cupcake wrappers overflowing from garbage cans near the store and wolf them down. He had a keen eye for the wrappers and the store.
"I'm not saying there were hundreds of them," Ms. Petit recalled recently, "but there were enough that he got a good snack on most of his walks. And they're buttery and creamy and delicious, you know?"
Lexington is a dog after my own heart. Next time you get a cupcake from the Magnolia Bakery on Bleecker Street, leave a little cake in the wrapper for Lexington.
