As of last week, customers at Tart pastry boutique can get custom cupcakes at the bakery's new cupcake bar. Walk-in customers can get a cupcake decorated on-the-spot with icing, toppings and mix-ins.
They borrowed the bar idea from ice cream stores that fold chopped cookies and candies into ice cream to suit each customer's whim.
How does a cupcake bar work?
The customer chooses either vanilla or chocolate cupcakes with fudge or sweet cream icing. Then the customer gets to choose from a list of toppings that can be mixed into the icing or sprinkled on top. Some of the toppings include M&M's, Kit-Kat bars, Butterfingers, Gummi Bears, Oreos, coconut and peppermint candy. Cost is $3 a pop with a cut-off at 6 cupcakes.
