The 82-year-old woman was moving out of Missouri View Apartments last Friday and one of her helpers had stored the piece of cake in the commons room refrigerator.
When the helper returned to pick up the cake, it was gone and the police were summoned.
The cake, wrapped in a white box with a gold gubernatorial seal, is believed to have come from Gov. George Mickelson’s last inauguration--in 1991.
Eating the piece of cake, while perhaps interesting, would not be advised.
