Trans Fat-Free Margarine for Cake Makers


While trans fat-free margarine has been on the market for some time now, this is the first time the product has been specifically geared toward cake makers. The effort to take the trans fat out of cakes moves forward as bakers can now choose trans fat-free products like Crisco's trans fat-free shortening and BakeMark UK's non-hydro alternative to its cake margarine Marvello.

BakeMark UK firm rolls out a trans fat-free margarine for cake makers, the latest in a series of launches as the firm sets to phase out hydrogenated fats from its entire manufactured product range by the end of 2005.

The product, like its hydrogenated counterpart, offers a “smooth, butter-like flavour and colour”, they add.

"We anticipate a high take up particularly from larger cake manufacturers, looking to present not only healthier content in their product but also a clearer labelling statement," says Kerrie Medlicott, BakeMark UK's head of marketing
