Valrhona Dark Chocolate Brownies

Brownies - I was introduced to this name more than 12 years ago. It was popularised by Mrs Fields who sold the most delicious brownies and chocolate chips cookies in those days. I've even bought one of her recipe books.

It happened that during one of my lunch hours, while waiting for my friends in Holland Village, I was browsing very slowly in Pantry Magic at some of the recipe books. I can't remember which title was it. I was attracted to one of the photos that showed brownies. A picture really speaks a thousand words. That image lingered in my mind even for the next few days.

Back home, I was reading this book, How To Be A Domestic Goddess by Nigella Lawson, which my dear colleague gladly lent to me. The author said: "I don't understand why people don't make brownies all the time - they're so easy and so wonderful...". Wow, this really sounds simple. Besides, I have this block of Valrhona dark chocolate, that has been sitting in my cabinet, waiting to be applied. Without further ado, I whipped up the brownies in less than 1 hour and the result was satisfying.

The next day, my kids wiped out nearly half the amount (total about 48 pcs; 4cm by 4cm squares). I brought some to office and one of my colleagues who, after taking the first bite, could tell immediately that the chocolate used was no ordinary brand.
