My son's 8th birthday party was today. Here's what I spent all day yesterday working on...
Yoda is covered in fondant, is all cake except for his ears which are made using Rice Krispee treats.
I didn't have a mold for this cake, as you might have guessed already, I rarely use molds for my shaped cake and in fact the only cake you'll find here that was made using a mold was my football cake. :o)
Can you guess what the hardest part of this cake was? Believe it or not, his nose. I remade it 3 times and am still not quite happy with it, but since taking these photos the nose has been consumed by an 8 year old party-goer, so what can I say? lol Guess it was good enough to eat.
I learn something new with each cake I make... with this one I either would have placed a thicker layer of fondant on the cake, or I would have used white cake rather than chocolate. I think it would have turned out even better had I done either.
In any case I had a lot of fun making Yoda and this was the first time I made a cake that I didn't want to cut! Oh, it actually hurt just a little.
Poor guy... he never saw it coming.
