Last week, we had the great honor of having one of our cakes featured on another blog, GreatWhiteSnark.com! If you're not familiar GreatWhiteSnark, they feature cool things that are "geeky" in nature (Star Wars, Star Trek, etc.). A while back, we blogged about the DeLorean cake we did for our friends wedding. Chad submitted it to GreatWhiteSnark and they said they would love to share it with their readers.
Click here to see their blog post, but I wanted to share a little more with my readers. I dug through the Cup a Dee Cake Archives and found a few pictures of the DeLorean cake "in progress". Without further ado, here are some pictures you won't find on GWS, they are a Cup a Dee Cakes exclusive!!
At this point the DeLorean has been carved and coated in buttercream, with modeling chocolate on the hood, top, and back.
Here's the car after it had been covered in fondant and most of the car's lines scored into the cake.
And this is the DeLorean in it's final stages. At this point, the windows have been exposed, it has been airbrushed silver, and placed on the cake board. There is a small styrofoam riser that lifts the car off the cake board to accommodate the wheels (which are still MIA in this picture).
